A Gleem in a Young Girls Eyes! (A special birthday party for Lil)
I recently had the privilege to provide a reptile program for a budding and extremely bright young naturalist. Lillian turned 8 earlier this year and she is extremely fond of reptiles. This fondness comes from her admiration of another young lady, who is a very popular TV naturalist following in her fathers foot steps……Bindy Irwin, the late Steve Irwin’s (Crocodile hunter) daughter. I found it extremely interesting when I learned that Lillian’s first choice in her birthday party was not to have Mr. Greg’s Reptile Roadshow put in an appearance…but rather she wanted to go to Australia. So, my feelings were not terribly hurt but rather I was completely enthused by this young girls desire to visit Australia and see some of the amazing creatures found there. Lillian did settle for my company and I did bring a couple of Australian lizards to her party.
I have the good fortune of providing live reptile programs to a number of people each week and the children are as diverse in their personalities as are the reptiles that I present. Lillian, who is not shy, eagerly took on the role of being my assistant and her enthusiasm, bright smile and complete confidence in being very close to reptiles made for a wonderful program. It always delights me to meet an energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable young naturalist. Lillian is one of those bright young talents that I believe will continue her passion for reptiles and I really expect to hear some great things about her in future years. The following images were taken by her father and these images depict a very happy Lillian in close contact with some of the animals she finds most delightful.

Thank you Lil for such a wonderful day!
